Security alert for companies using MultiFunction Devices

Posted by Dan Schmitt on Aug 28, 2018 1:00:49 PM

Your business may be vulnerable to this exploit. If you have an HP, or possibly other manufacturer’s MultiFunction printer/fax/copier, that is connected to your network, and to a phone line (for inbound faxing), and your device has not received the latest patches, you may be vulnerable to a hack that would give an attacker complete access to your network. There are no reports of this attack in the wild, but the number of MultiFunction devices connected to phone lines and with companies publishing their fax numbers on their web sites, will probably make this attack irresistible to hackers.

To aid and insure that the attack doesn’t happen to you…  Check to see that your MultiFunction devices are running the latest Firmware and Software UPDATES.

You can watch a short video that shows how the attack works at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=3&v=1VDZTjngNqs
